Deck Maintenance Mini-Series: Stage 2 Wood Reviver

In this second part of the Decking Cleaning Series, we will be using the Barrettine Wood Reviver to restore our decking to that lovely golden hue.
In the first part of the Decking Clean mini-series, we cleaned our decking with a jet washer, stiff-bristled brush and Driveway, Patio & Decking Cleaner. It's now free of algae, dirt and debris we are onto the next stage, and I must say it's looking a little grey so I'm curious to see how this product works.

Following the manufacturer's instructions, I'd wet the decking with a hose before applying the Wood Reviver. I found that using a broom and a paint roller tray, it was pretty easy to apply. I then waited 15 minutes before using a wet broom to agitate the Wood Reviver. I left it for another 15 minutes before rinsing it off with a hose.
After it had dried I could see the difference and the golden colour had certainly started to return but I did repeat this process and I must say the second coat did really change the colour dramatically.

The process has really brightened the decking and restored it to near its original golden colour. Do you have light green stains on your decking? These green stains are just the wood preservative treatment. The green comes from the copper in the treatment. Next, we will tackle retreating with Decking Oil, which requires your decking to be very dry! Decking oil will repel water, protect the timber from UV colour fading and help protect against returning mould.
