It is important that all Charltons untreated Softwood & Ikoko gates are stored, treated & cared for properly prior to hanging. Please follow this link to Charltons Gates care & treatment information sheet for more detailed instructions. Failure to follow these instructions may invalidate any future claims.
When the gates are unwrapped, they should be treated straight away before they are exposed to the elements.
Please read the information below in conjunction with the Charltons Gates care & treatment information sheet mentioned above.
Softwood gates should be treated with a clear preservative such as Cuprinol Trade Wood Preserver Clear or Protek Clear Wood Preserver. Preservative treatments must be fully dry before applying decorative microporous treatments such as Sikkens Cetol HLS & Filter 7 or Protek Royal Exterior Wood Finnish. Please follow the manufacturer's application instructions fully. Care must be taken to treated all surfaces, particularly the bottom, all end grain & any holes etc for gate hardware. The gates should be checked & retreated annually in accordance with the treatment manufacturers instructions.
Iroko gates should be treated with a solvent based treatment. The gate may need degreasing with methylated spirits prior to any treatment. Use a microporous treatment such as Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus and Filter 7. Please follow the manufacturer's application instructions fully. Care must be taken to treated all surfaces, particularly the bottom, all end grain & any holes etc for gate hardware. The gates should be checked & retreated annually in accordance with the treatment manufacturers instructions.
It should be noted that all wooden gates are susceptible to natural movement or shaking (cracks in the timber) as the timber expands & contracts during the normal weathering process. This is not considered to be a defect unless very severe. We do not recommend using dark stains or paints as they attract heat which may cause additional movement in the timber.
For prices of some Iroko gates or styles & bespoke sizes not shown, please contact us online or phone 01892 864646.
(Please note: that some of the pictures show gates that have been stained or treated by the customer prior to being fitted.)

Enter the value you want to convert including units (e.g. 1.5m) or highlight the text on the page.
This is a text-based metric/imperial converter which means it has some limitations in the format in which it expects the data.
Things like 1' 6", 12ins or 2.3m are fine but don't mix imperial and metric formatting, for example 1.5ins (for an inch and a half) won't work, you can use 1 1/2 ins however.
The units that are recognised are as follows:
