Wooden Cleats are used to attach wooden Gravel Boards to square Wooden Posts or Concrete Mortised Posts when used for Close Board or Palisade fencing.
Mark wooden posts with a pencil at the required height. Position the cleat on the post so that the gravel board will be under the fencing. Each cleat is attached to the post with 2 galvanised nails or 2 exterior grade wood screws. It is best to pre-drill the holes in the cleat to avoid any chance of the timber splitting. Screw or nail the gravel board to the cleat. Again pre-drilling is recommended.
