A deck frame joist hanger ( also called a deck joist shoe) is made from a heavier gauge metal than a standard joist hanger. They also do not have long ears for folding over the top of the joist, unlike most internal type joist hangers. The hangers are predrilled, ready for fixing by either woodscrews or bolts.

The hanger is manufactured to fit 50mm wide joists in two sizes, 150mm and 100mm deep, to match the most common joist sizes used for decking frameworks.
Joist hangers are particularly helpful when building a decking frame when the deck is close to a solid object like a wall.
