More Information
Crestala’s flat-top Penshurst tongue and groove gates are manufactured in our workshop by our skilled Gatemakers. We can make special sizes if required.
For Penshurst gate widths over 1.2m wide, we recommend using a heavy frame gate like the Withyham range. Please contact our Sales Team for more information.
We can supply all the fittings you need to be able to hang and secure your new Penshurst gate. In addition, we recommend fitting adjustable hinges to alleviate any seasonal gate movement.
If you are unsure about measuring for a gate, please read our blog, Measuring for new side or entrance gates which provides guidance on the measuring process, or speak to a member of our Sales Team.
Penshurst gates manufactured by Crestala are robust yet offer very good value for money. The timber used is pressure-treated, joinery-grade, slow-growing Scandinavian redwood. The treatment provides good protection against rot and insect attacks.
All Penshurst gates made by Crestala must be stored, treated and cared for properly before and after hanging. Please, read the recommendations on our “Important Gate Care Information” sheet for more detailed instructions. Failure to follow these instructions may invalidate any future claims.
Treated softwood gates are susceptible to natural movement or shaking (cracks in the timber) as the wood expands & contracts during the normal weathering process. This is not considered to be a defect unless it is very severe.
*Measurements before the wood is planed. It’s roughly 5mm smaller than the original size.
