The standard cleft rails are 9’6″ long, and the sawn softwood posts are set at 9′ centres.
Our square-sawn posts for cleft rails have two or three pairs of mortises to take the rails.
If requested when ordering, posts can be mortised with a single larger hole. However, as these will be non-standard, they will not be returnable.
We hold the blank posts in stock, and they are mortised to match each customer’s order.
Sawn softwood posts are treated using the latest generation of preservatives to UC4 standard.
These posts are usually mortised for Chestnut Cleft Rails, but they can be mortised for arris rails or sawn rails if required.
