Post and Rail
Post and Rail fencing has many variations. With different combinations of sawn or machined round pressure treated softwood timber and Cleft Chestnut.

General Information
- Posts are fitted at nominal 1.8m centres when using 3.6m (12′) rails or 9′ (2.7m) for cleft rail.
- Half Round or sawn rails can be substituted or mixed with each other if desired.
- Pointed Half round posts can be driven in with a post rammer. Sawn posts are square ended and dug in, then backfilled before being rammed up.
- Post and Rail posts are not usually concreted in.
- Rails are attached to the posts using nails or exterior wood screws.
- Cleft Rails are 2.7m (9′) long and have tapered ends ready for use with mortised chestnut or treated softwood mortised posts.
