Square Softwood posts are ideal for use as Fencing, Gate or Deck Supports. Our large stocks of sawn softwood posts are treated using the latest generation preservatives to UC4 standard which the treatment companies say should provide an anticipated lifespan of 15 years.
We do recommend adding an extra treatment to any timber that is in contact with the ground particularly from 100mm (4″) above ground level to 450mm (18″) below ground level.

Here’s a bit more general information about our Square Fence and Gate Posts

• Softwood posts all have square ends (flat) as standard, except Gate Posts (150 mm, 175mm & 200mm) which are 4 way weathered (pyramid top) on one end as standard.  For other available options, see Post Tops below.
• Edge chamfering and router lines can be added if desired to softwood posts.
• Protect the top of your post with a Metal post cap or a standard Wooden post cap.

Please note

All treated softwood posts are susceptible to natural movement or shaking (vertical cracks in the wood) as the timber expands and contracts during the normal weathering process. These problems do not usually affect the structural integrity of the post and will mostly disappear when colder, moist weather returns. This is not considered to be a defect unless very severe.
