Protecting the top of wooden posts with metal post caps and finials helps reduce the risk of post-top decay. In addition, they provide a better level of protection and last longer than the slightly cheaper wooden post caps.
Fitting a metal post cap helps by reducing the moisture content in the wood at the top of the post. This, in turn, significantly lowers the possibility of the post top being attacked by wood rot.
They are available in a Brown or Galvanised finish.
