Browse our Concrete Fencing options, or widen your search with the Shop menu above. Although concrete posts and fencing materials may not be as visually appealing as wood, they offer a lifespan of around 25 years and are practical alternatives to traditional wooden fencing. We offer a variety of concrete posts, gravel boards, repair spurs, and also concrete decking support posts.
Concrete Posts
Concrete posts are typically set in the ground and secured with either a dry ballast-cement mix (about 7 to 1 by volume, with no extra water added), rammed up around the post, or postmix (follow the instructions on the bag). The quantity required will depend on the hole size and depth. Try to keep the hole diameter fairly tight around the post; 200 to 250mm (8" to 10") is good. Generally, for any fence height, the hole should be a minimum of 600mm (2') deep. For fence heights over 1.5m we recommend that the hole depth is increased to a minimum of 750mm (2' 6").
Concrete Gravel Boards
15cm- and 30cm-high concrete gravel boards for use beneath standard UK 6' (1.83m) panels are typically paired with slotted concrete posts. Brackets are available for attaching to wooden posts if needed. Longer 2.885m concrete gravel boards are also available for use with concrete mortised posts to fit under 3m closeboard bays. They can be trimmed for shorter bays using specialised tools.
Concrete Repair Spurs
Concrete Spurs serve various purposes. The primary use is to reinforce fence posts that have decayed at ground level. They are fixed to the post using coach bolts if both sides of the fence are accessible, or coach screws if access is limited to just one side.
Transportation
Concrete fencing items can be quite brittle and crack or chip easily. They need to be transported lying flat and supported along the whole length, or they may crack during transit. Please handle with care. We strongly recommend that all items be checked at the time of collection or delivery.
Lifting
Safety note: All concrete items are heavy and should be lifted with care. Many require at least two people to lift.
