How to Use

Concrete posts are generally dug into the ground and secured with either a dry mix of ballast and cement (about 7 to 1 mix with no extra water added) rammed up around the post or postmix (follow directions on the bag). The amount of each required will depend on the size and depth of the hole. Keep the hole diameter reasonably tight around the post; 200 to 250mm (8" to 10") is good. Generally, the hole should be a minimum of 600mm (2') deep for any fence height. For fence heights over 1.5m, we recommend increasing the hole depth to a minimum of 750mm (2' 6"). For concrete mortised posts, the depth of the post below the fence is preset by the manufacturer.
We do not recommend reducing the hole depth by cutting off the bottoms of concrete posts.

Installation Tips
  • Check the depth of the hole carefully before dropping the post into it. If the depth is incorrect, concrete posts are very difficult to lift back out of the hole.
  • The corners of concrete mortised posts are easily chipped; take care when storing or moving around.

Health & Safety
Health & Safety:
  • Warning: Mortised Concrete posts are heavy and require at least two people to lift and carry.
  • If weight or lifting is a problem, you may wish to consider the much lighter metal DuraPost as an alternative option.
Recommended Aftercare
