150mm (6in) x 100mm (4in) treated softwood posts, 2.1m (7ft) long. Our 150 x 100mm posts are pressure-treated to UC4 for in-ground contact. These posts are usually used for post-and-rail fencing, but have also been used as mini sleepers.

To extend the life of fence posts, you may want to consider adding a timber treatment or wood preserver that can add extra protection to the part of the post going into the ground.

How to Use

150 x 100mm posts for post and rail normally have between 750mm (2ft-6in) and 900mm (3ft) in the ground. The style of fence is normally about 1.2m (4ft) high.

If you can, we do recommend adding an extra treatment to any timber that is in contact with the ground, particularly from 100mm (4") above ground level to 450mm (18") below ground level.

Installation Tips

150mm x 100mm (6in x 4in) posts are commonly used for post-and-rail fencing or as mini-sleepers.
Posts for this style of fencing are usually secured by ramming up the spoil from digging the hole around the post very firmly. If the ground is soft, post mix can be used.

We have both fast-setting post mix and the more traditional Ballast and cement to make up a dry mix. Either of these options is suitable for securely fixing 150mm x 100mm fence posts in position if needed.
