A deck frame joist hanger (also called a deck joist shoe) is made from a heavier-gauge metal than a standard joist hanger. They also do not have long ears to fold over the top of the joist, unlike most internal joist hangers. The hangers are predrilled and ready for fixing with either woodscrews or bolts.
The hanger is manufactured to fit 50 mm-wide joists in two sizes, 150mm and 100mm deep, to match the most common joist sizes used for decking frameworks.
Joist hangers are particularly helpful when building a decking frame near a solid object, such as a wall.
