Protecting the top of wooden posts with metal post caps and finials helps reduce the risk of post top decay. In addition, they provide a better level of protection and last longer than the slightly cheaper wooden post caps.
Fitting a metal post cap helps by reducing the moisture content in the wood at the top of the post. This, in turn, significantly lowers the possibility of the post top being attacked by wood rot.
They are available in a Brown or Galvanised finish.
Also available in a galvanised finish only, post cap finials with an integral ball top.
Fitting.
These metal post caps and finials are very easy to fit. Just sit on the top of a flat top post and screw through two sides with external quality woodscrews.
