How to Use

Smaller-diameter posts can be banged in using a Maul or Post-rammer, whilst larger-diameter posts are dug in the same way as large square posts.

Avoid using standard sledge hammers, as their rounded striking face splits the top of the post.

Measuring & Quantity Calculations

Normally fitted at between 1.8m and 3m post centres, depending on the type of netting and the reason for the fence.

Installation Tips

It is worth noting that all treated softwood machined round posts are susceptible to natural movement and shaking (vertical cracks in the wood) as the timber expands and contracts during normal weathering. However, these problems do not usually affect the post's structural integrity and will mostly disappear when colder, moister weather returns.

Health & Safety
Health & Safety:

Wear gloves when handling posts, with additional safety glasses when banging posts into the ground.
Wash your hands before eating, drinking or smoking.

Recommended Aftercare

Most of our round softwood posts are treated with the latest-generation preservatives to the UC4 standard to maximise their lifespan.
An extra layer of Bitumen protective treatment or wood preservative can be painted on to add additional protection to the post in the ground-level area, which is susceptible to rot.
