Metal Repair Spur For Wooden Posts That Have Rotted Off At The Base

Metal repair spurs from Fencemate are a new twist on the traditional concrete spurs for repairing fence posts that have rotted at ground level. They allow you to extend the life of 75mm, 100mm or 125mm wooden fence posts that have rotted off, similar to traditional concrete spurs. Metal spurs are easily attached to the repaired post with landscape screws or Timber framing screws.

The advantages of Metal Repair Spurs over concrete spurs are:-

  • They are far less obtrusive than concrete spurs.
  • They are much lighter and easier to handle.
  •  And require you to make a much smaller hole through the existing post-fix around the post-base.
  • Similar price to concrete spurs.

How to Use

Using a point and chisel bar, knock a hole through the post concrete at the base of the rotten post.

Fencemate Repair Spurs are then concreted in using a quick-setting post mix down the side of the post to be repaired. Attaching to the post above the break is easy using a combination of 130mm x 10mm Solo coach screws and 60mm landscape screws.

Installation Tips

It is always best where possible to pre-drill the holes for the coach and landscape screws. Use a drill bit just smaller than the centre portion of the screws.

A Fencemate spur fitted to a new wooden post as part of the initial installation can extend the post's life without the need for future remedial work.
