Key Features

Picket, or Palisade as it is sometimes called, style fencing is very popular as front or back garden boundary fencing, especially where a solid fence is not needed or desired. Picket fencing can also be used to section off parts of the garden, such as the vegetable patch, from children and pets. Matching gates and fittings are available. All our Picket/Palisade fencing materials are pressure-treated with preservatives to increase durability.

Because of the many top and length variations, Pickets are prepared to order. Please see the Made to Measure Sizes section below for heights not listed.

Pickets prepared to customers' specifications are custom-made and bespoke; therefore, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges.

How to Use

Palisades/Pickets are nailed onto square or arris rails to make the ever popular cottage style fence.
The normal method is two nails per palisade per rail. The ideal is to have the two nails at about a 30-degree angle to one another across the palisade.

Recommended Aftercare

We recommend that our pressure-treated fencing be given a coat of UV wood oil when new and reoiled every year. This oiling will help reduce the natural weathering effects and keep your fence looking good for longer. See our Helpsheet on Looking after pressure-treated fencing for more options.

To produce the traditional cottage-style fence, you can use a coloured, water-based fence treatment. Ideally, the fence should be left for several months for the pressure treatment to dry out entirely before adding a coloured treatment. It is best to avoid dark colours as they attract heat which may cause additional movement in the timber.
