How to Use

Here's a bit more general information about our wooden Square Fence and Gate Posts.

Edge chamfering, different post tops, and router lines can be added to 100mm square posts if desired.

Protect the top of your post with a Metal post cap or a standard Wooden post cap.

If you can, we do recommend adding an extra treatment to any timber that is in contact with the ground, particularly from 100mm (4") above ground level to 450mm (18") below ground level.

Installation Tips

For fencing, allow 600mm (2ft) in the ground up to 1.2m fence height. For fencing 1.35m (4ft-6ins) or over, exposed areas, or soft ground, we recommend increasing this to 750mm (2ft 6ins).

We have both fast-setting post mix and the more traditional Ballast and cement to make up a dry mix. Either of these options is suitable for securely fixing 10cm x 10cm posts in position.

Recommended Aftercare

Please read our Helpsheet on Looking After Pressure-treated Fencing.

To extend the life of the fence and gate posts, you may want to consider adding a timber treatment or wood preserver that can add extra protection to the part of the post going into the ground.
