After December’s blustery storms, we’ve been asked a lot about how to properly measure for new fence panels. All you need to do is measure up, choose your panel style and phone or email in the order.

Measuring for Fence Panels

Fence panels are typically 6ft (1.83m) wide for British made panels or 1.8m wide for most continental made panels. They usually come in standard heights of 3ft, 4ft, 5ft and 6ft or their metric equivalents; 0.9, 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8 metres.
  • If you are just doing a straightforward panel swap, replacing the panels and utilising existing posts then simply measure both the height, width & quantity of your existing panels.
  • To start afresh, measure the length of your fence line accurately and divide by the width of the panels. Don’t forget to allow for the width of the new posts in your calculations.

Top Tips

  • By using our panel extension kit you can replace standard 6ft wide panels with the narrower continental style panels using existing posts.
  • If your posts are long enough or you are starting from scratch our new panels will last longer if they are clear of the ground. This can be easily be achieved by selecting a wooden or composite gravel board from our extensive range.
