These strainer posts are pointed and can be knocked in with a large mechanical post rammer. Alternatively, if you do not have access to a suitable post rammer, you can treat it as any normal wooden fence post and dig a hole for each post.

To further extend the life of your peeled posts, add additional protection to the ground-level area susceptible to rot. Bitumen protective treatment or wood preserver are both suitable for this purpose.

All treated softwood peeled round strainer posts are susceptible to natural movement or shaking (vertical cracks in the wood). This is a normal weathering process as the timber expands and contracts. These problems do not usually affect the structural integrity of the post and will mostly disappear when colder, moist weather returns. Therefore, this is not considered to be a defect unless very severe.
