Rotherfield Closeboard Gates

Crestala's Rotherfield closeboard gates are manufactured on-site in our workshop by our skilled gate makers to be robust yet offer excellent value for money.
The frame's timber is pressure-treated, joinery-grade, slow-growing Scandinavian redwood. The treatment offers effective protection against rot and insect infestations.

*Measurements before the wood is planed. It's roughly 5mm smaller than the original size.

All Rotherfield Gates are custom-made to order and bespoke; therefore, we cannot offer refunds or exchanges.

Rotherfield gates should be hung on a minimum of 100 x 100mm posts.
We recommend hanging the gate on Adjustable hooks and rides as they allow for easy removal of any seasonal timber movement.
If security is important to you, then we would recommend fitting a Long Throw Lock, or if ease of access is more important, then use a ring latch with a Brenton Bolt.

Ordering a new Rotherfield gate is very easy. Before measuring, you may find our Blog on Measuring for new side or entrance gates useful.
The heights shown below include a 50mm allowance for ground clearance. You should allow 15mm on the width of a single gate or 30mm for a pair of gates for fittings and expansion.
eg. A 900mm wide single gate would need a gap of 915mm between the posts, OR,  if you have existing posts with a gap of 1.0m, your gate will need to be a special width of 985mm.

All treated softwood gates are susceptible to natural movement or shaking (cracks in the timber) as the wood expands and contracts during the regular, natural weathering process. This is not considered to be a defect unless it is very severe.
