Before you proceed with ordering your Closeboard fence, you need to decide which of the four basic methods of making a Closeboard-style fence will give you the fence you want. If you ask, we can do comparable quotes for you. 1/ Classic closeboard made up on site using Arris rails and mortised posts. This is the most flexible choice, as the use of Arris and mortised posts allows you to follow changes in the fenceline terrain (slopes, step-downs, changes in height and direction) comparatively easily. The feather-edge boards are nailed to the front of the Arris rails between the posts. You have a choice between concrete and wooden mortised posts. 2/ Closeboard made up on site using plain wooden posts with two or three lines of flat rail screwed to the front of the posts in a continuous lines. The feather-edge boards are nailed onto the rails and completely cover the face (front) of the fence. You have a choice of wooden post sizes. 3/ The third option is similar to number two but uses metal DuraPost instead of wooden or concrete posts. The flat rails are screwed into the H-section DuraPost, and the feather edge is attached to the rails between the posts. Although the fence is very strong, it is not very deep, making it ideal for small gardens where space is a premium. 4/Closeboard Panels. With closeboard panels, you can make a fence that will provide the look of a closeboard fence, but with minimal assembly. For a stronger fence, use fully framed Closeboard Panels, such as our Standard or Sturdy Closeboard Panels. Panels that use only horizontal rails are not as strong and are harder to secure. You have a choice of concrete slotted, DuraPost or plain wooden posts.
